Sometimes anxiety arrives without warning. One moment you’re fine, and the next your chest feels tight, your thoughts speed up, and everything feels heavier. If this is happening to you right now, pause for a moment. You don’t need to fix everything. You just need a gentle reset.
Section 1: First, Let It Be There
Anxiety often gets stronger when we fight it.
Instead of asking “Why is this happening?”, try saying quietly:
“Something in me feels overwhelmed right now, and that’s okay.”
This small shift alone can reduce the intensity.
Section 2: A Simple Grounding Reset (2 minutes)
Try this wherever you are:
Put one hand on your chest
Breathe in slowly through your nose for 4 seconds
Breathe out through your mouth for 6 seconds
Repeat 5 times
Longer exhales tell your nervous system that you’re safe.
Section 3: Bring Your Attention Back to Now
Look around and name:
3 things you can see
2 things you can feel
1 thing you can hear
You don’t need to escape the moment — just anchor yourself in it.
Section 4: One Small Kind Action
Ask yourself:
What is one gentle thing I can do in the next 10 minutes?
could be:
Sitting near a window
Drinking something warm
Stretching your shoulders
Closing your eyes for a minute
Small actions calm the body first — the mind follows.
Closing
Anxiety doesn’t mean you’re failing or broken.
It’s your nervous system asking for care, not control.
You’re allowed to slow down — even in the middle of a busy day.
